The new contents such as emails, contacts, calendar items, tasks, notes and others are not updated and not downloaded even though user manually select “update folder” in order to pull the new data.
But user can login to OWA (Outlook Web Access) or to continue to access the missing email messages, appointments, contacts, tasks, journal entries, notes, posted items, and documents.
There are a few ways to resolve the issue: One option is to remove the recent update that has been pushed out by Microsoft to Outlook 2013 and Office 365 users.
To do so, complete the following steps: Be sure to back up any existing emails or transfer to an offline location before making this change.
Send immediately when connected is in Tools, Options, Mail Setup tab in Outlook 2007 and older.
This issue is caused by installing one of the following updates that have been pushed out by Microsoft on 11/12/13: KB2837618 or KB2837643 If you have not already done so, please avoid this update for a bit until Microsoft corrects the issue.
The content and emails in the mailboxes are not refreshed, i.e.
only the old emails are shown, and new emails are not downloaded to Outlook, even though the status bar stated that the folder is updated.
For best results, don't check for new mail more frequently than about 8 - 10 minutes.
Checking too frequently (either automatically or manually) can cause Outlook to hang on the process and you will not be able to send or receive mail until you restart Outlook.
